We have a very busy week this week!
Field Trip
Reminder that we will have our first field trip this Friday, September 28th to Deanna Rose Farmstead. It will be from 10:30am-12:30pm. We will leave around 10:00am and return around 1:00pm. The cost is $6, per person. We will eat lunch on site, so students and volunteers will need to bring a sack lunch. If you have not yet signed and returned your students permission slip and/or $6 fee, please do so as soon as possible. If you need another permission slip, let me know!
Parent Teacher Conferences
It's that time of year! If you have not already signed up, click the link below to sign up for a parent teacher conference. If none of these times work for you, please let me know and we can try to work something out.
Tipi Assembly
This Tuesday, we have special guests coming to provide an exciting experience for our 1st graders. Students will build a full size tipi in our own schoolyard. They will learn first-hand about the design and construction of this incredible home utilized by the Plains Indians. Students will be engaged as they learn about the rich history of the American Indians, their culture, and their interactions with their environment.
Inside Out Day
On Wednesday, the whole grade level will be watching the movie Inside Out. After the movie, the classes will get three short lessons (one from each 1st grade teacher) surrounding feelings, emotions, and the zones of regulation. This is a super fun day and a great way to engage kids in the social/emotional concepts we teach all year long.

This Week in Reading:
This week our class will be focusing on the different ways we can move our bodies, such as running, kicking, waving, and hopping.
Here are some optional activities that you can do with your child to help reinforce the skills we’ll be practicing.
Word Workout:
Words to Know Have your child show and tell the meaning of the words, and then write a sentence using each word.

Comprehension: Key Details
Have your child circle the sentence that tells a key detail about a picture. Then help your child identify more details in the picture.
