I hope you all had an amazing Thanksgiving break plus a great extra day with your kiddos due to the snow day. I am excited to get back and see all my sweet students!

Wonders Weekly Assessments:

As some of you may have seen, I have started giving weekly assessments in reading. This is separate from our spelling test. It assesses skills such as comprehension, phonemic awareness, phonics and structural analysis. This has been challenging for many students, but I feel that the rigor of these tests is going to help push them to become the readers I know they can become! What I ask of you is to check their backpacks Mondays after school (usually Mondays anyways...) to see how they did on their test and discuss it with them. I never want to discourage them for making mistakes, but I do always try to emphasize that mistakes help us learn. Utilizing these learning opportunities with your child will help them see that all of us (student, parent and teacher) are on the same page and that we all see the value in their efforts towards becoming better readers.
