WELCOME!

Hello first grade families! We have had a crazy, but amazing first week of school. I am already in love with our sweet class and can't wait to make so many memories with them this year. I will be sending out a blog post like this each week to update you on what we are learning in first grade and any other important information.

Back to School Informational Video

If you haven't watched my back to school video please click the link below. The video gives you an overview of what to expect in first grade and also explains how to maneuver my website to find any information you may want. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v_wRGB7ijlY&t=1s

Take Home Folder

I sent home a folder labeled "take home folder" with each child today. This will be going home with them each night containing papers for them to keep at home. If there are any papers that need to be returned, it will be specified on the paper or mentioned in an email. Please make sure to check your child's folder each night and have them bring it back each day. We will not always have papers to send home, but I would like for the kids to get in the habit of taking it home, checking it, and returning it the next day.

Reading Logs

I put our August reading log in each kid's take home folder today. This is to be kept at home until the end of August or beginning of September. I would like to highly encourage your child to spend at least 10-15 minutes each night reading to or with an adult or older sibling. When they do so, you can record it on their reading log. Each child that returns the reading log at the end of the month will get a prize.

Water Bottles

In order to keep our class hydrated, but limit the amount of time they are leaving the classroom to get a drink, I recommend that you send your child to school with a water bottle. They are more than welcome to keep water bottles by their desk If you could please write their name on the water bottle so that we don't get them lost or mixed up that would be great.

iPads

We will be getting iPads sometime in the next week or two. Once we have them, I will begin adding apps such as Seesaw, iStation, Zearn, and more. More information about those apps will be sent out at that time.

Thank you for all your help and support as we jump back into the swing of things! I am truly overjoyed to have each of your kiddos in my class this year.

If you have any questions or concerns you can text, email, or call me.
